Description

Anti-Slip Decking Oil

Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil prevents slipping and falls on slippery decking and terraces. After applying this anti-slip oil, the wooden surface is much safer to use, so you enjoy it more. The product is suitable for all outdoor wood species such as Bangkirai, Massaranduba, Garapa, larch, Douglas fir and spruce. Ribbed, grooved and smooth boards can all be treated with the anti-slip oil.

Please note: Anti-Slip Decking Oil must always be applied over another Decking Oil. The anti-slip version cannot be applied to bare or untreated wood.

Slippery decking boards

When decking, a terrace or outdoor stairs have been treated with Osmo Decking Oil, the surface can become slippery when wet. To solve this, the surface can be treated with the Anti-Slip coating. After treatment, an anti-slip surface is created, so slippery surfaces such as stairs and wooden terraces are no longer slippery.

Anti-slip for decking boards

Anti-Slip Decking Oil is used as the third coat, i.e. the top coat. The first and second coats must be Decking Oil, either a coloured or a clear variant. You cannot apply only the anti-slip oil without the first coat of Decking Oil; with only an anti-slip coat, the surface is not sufficiently protected against moisture and minor damage.

Available sizes: 0.75 L and 2.5 L

1 L is enough for approx. 24 m² per coat.

Tip: always buy a little more product than needed for the recommended square metres, so you can maintain and touch up the surface with the anti-slip oil.

Please note: Anti-Slip Decking Oil must always be applied over another Decking Oil. The anti-slip version cannot be applied to bare wood.

Note: For surfaces already treated with Osmo or another brand or product, always do a test first. For renovation, we always advise applying a maximum of one coat. If more coats are applied, the second coat may not adhere and can easily be scratched off. The FAQ explains how to carry out a test.

We recommend a first coat with a coloured oil, for example Osmo Bangkirai Oil, Larch Oil or Douglas Oil, or Osmo Natural Oil Stain.

The wooden substrate must be clean, dry and frost-free (max. 20% moisture content). Osmo Anti-Slip Decking Oil is ready to use; do not thin. Stir well.

Old colour and varnish layers must be removed. We recommend doing a trial on unknown substrates.

1. Apply thinly with an Osmo flat brush in the direction of the grain and spread out well.

2. Let dry for approx. 12 hours with good ventilation.

3. For renovation, one coat on the clean, dry substrate is usually sufficient.

To prevent greying of the wood and a reduced anti-slip effect, these areas should be partially retreated over time.

If the wood has turned grey, the surface can be de-greyed with Osmo Power-Gel and then retreated.
