Description

Osmo 2K Wood Oil is suitable for treating all wooden floors and parquet. 2K Wood Oil is available in 11 variants, including 1 clear variant, all drying to a matt finish. The big advantage of 2K Wood Oil is that one coat gives the wood sufficient protection. The oil is based on natural plant oils such as linseed oil, waxes and water-repellent additives. The pigmented 2K Wood Oil also contains iron oxide and organic pigments, as well as titanium dioxide as white pigment.

Osmo 2K Wood Oil is not ready to use. Shortly before application, add the hardener (mixing ratio 100:12 vol.%) and mix both components well. Do not thin. Pot life is approx. 3-4 hours.

What you need

  • Osmo 2K Wood Oil (of your choice)
  • Double-blade scraper
  • Single-disc machine (FloorXcenter or HandXcenter)

Applying 2K Wood Oil

  1. Apply 2K Wood Oil thinly with the Osmo double-blade scraper.
  2. Wait about 20-40 minutes to let the oil penetrate the wood.
  3. Then polish the oil into the wood and level the surface with a single-disc machine (FloorXcenter or HandXcenter) and a white pad.
  4. Let the surface dry for approx. 24 hours.

Tip: If the single-disc machine leaves streaks due to too much product, we recommend turning over or replacing the pad.

PLEASE NOTE: To prevent possible pressure build-up in the container, let oil and hardener mixtures react completely before closing (approx. 12-16 hours).

Wooden surfaces treated with 2K Wood Oil are easy to maintain:

  • Remove coarse dirt with a broom or vacuum cleaner.
  • To clean, add Osmo Wisch-Fix concentrate to the mopping water and clean the surface with a damp mop.
  • If necessary, use Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner (1 to 2 times a year) to refresh and clean the surface.

Clean tools with Osmo Brush Cleaner (free from aromatic compounds). Rinse pads with water and let them dry before throwing them away.

Sanding

Sand wooden surfaces carefully with the right equipment.

  1. Start with coarse sandpaper such as 40 grit, so that old (coloured) finishes are removed and the floor is level again.
  2. For the second sanding pass, use 80 grit to remove sanding marks and rough areas.
  3. Fill holes, cracks and gaps in the wood with Osmo Wood Filler or Osmo Joint Filler.
  4. Finish with P 120-150 for floors and P 220-240 for furniture.
  5. Remove sanding dust from the surface with a broom and vacuum cleaner.
  6. Do a test in an inconspicuous place or on a leftover floor piece.

The finished surface has different properties, partly due to natural characteristics and the application method. A test must therefore first be done in an inconspicuous place.

Important

Old paints, varnishes and lacquers must be completely removed by sanding. Always wear a dust mask when sanding.
